The commitment

This website should be usable by everyone, including people using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, or viewing the site at large text sizes. That is not a legal box-ticking exercise — a contractor reading this on a cracked phone screen in bright sun has an accessibility problem too, and the fixes are the same fixes.

The standard

This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What has been done

Semantic HTML structure with a single, descriptive heading hierarchy on every page
A “skip to content” link as the first focusable element on every page
All functionality reachable by keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator
Text and background colours checked for contrast against WCAG AA thresholds
Form fields with real associated labels, not placeholder text standing in for labels
Navigation landmarks and breadcrumbs marked up for assistive technology
Animation and transitions disabled automatically when the visitor’s system requests reduced motion
Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel viewport
Descriptive link text rather than “click here”

Known limitations

Some third-party content embedded on this site — review widgets, maps, tracking scripts — is outside my control and may not fully meet the same standard. Where a third-party component causes a barrier, I will look for an accessible alternative.
