AI call handling for Bismarck-Mandan contractors

The jobs you lose aren’t lost to competitors. They’re lost to voicemail.

Prozpect Pro puts an AI receptionist on your phone that answers on the first ring — at 9pm, on a Sunday, while you’re on a roof — and books the estimate. Add the website, Google presence and ads only if you actually need them.

✓ One client per trade, per market. If I work with a roofer in Bismarck, I don’t take another one.

Thanks for calling Summit Roofing, this is Ava. What’s going on with your roof?

Caller

We’ve got water coming through the ceiling after that hail.

AI

That’s an active leak, so I’m treating it as urgent. I have an emergency slot tomorrow at 8:15 or 1:30 — which works?

Caller

Morning’s better.

The problem

A missed call isn’t a missed call. It’s a job that went to the next guy.

Homeowners don’t leave voicemails any more. When a roof is leaking at seven at night, they call the first number, wait four rings, and call the second. You never find out it happened.

You’re on a roof

The best contractors are the hardest to reach, because they’re doing the work. Every hour on a job is an hour the phone rings into nothing.

It’s after five

Homeowners notice problems in the evening and on weekends — exactly when nobody in your office is sitting by a phone. That’s most of the week.

Two people called at once

You answered one. The other got a busy signal and a competitor. Nothing in your system even records that it happened.

The part that stings

Most contractors here have no idea how many calls they miss, because the only place it’s recorded is a carrier log nobody opens. The first thing I do in an audit is count them. That number is usually the whole conversation.

The core offer

Answer everything. Then decide what else you need.

Most agencies sell you a package and hope you grow into it. I start with the thing every contractor is bleeding from, prove it works, and let you add the rest when it makes sense — or never.

Start here

AI Receptionist

Answers on the first ring, day or night. Knows your services, your service area and your pricing ranges. Triages emergencies, books estimates onto your calendar, and texts you the details. You get a transcript of every call.

Missed-Call Text Back

If a call goes unanswered for any reason, the caller gets a text within seconds — and the AI holds the conversation from there. Most people who won’t leave a voicemail will happily text.

How it works →

AI Chat Agent

On your website, answering the homeowner who will never pick up the phone but will type at eleven at night. Same brain as the receptionist, same calendar.

AI Follow-Up & Reactivation

Quotes that went quiet get chased automatically. Your old customer list — the one sitting in a notebook — gets worked. This is usually the fastest money on the list.

Answering in a week. Everything else on your timeline.

The AI side goes live fast because it doesn’t depend on Google, or rankings, or anybody’s algorithm. The marketing side is slower by nature, and I’ll say so rather than pretend otherwise.

Day 1–2

We learn your business

One call. Your services, your service area, what you charge for the common jobs, what counts as an emergency, who gets called when one comes in, and which jobs you actually want.

  • Your real missed-call count, pulled from your phone records
  • The questions homeowners ask you over and over
  • What the AI is allowed to say about price — and what it isn’t
Day 3–7

Your AI goes live

Built, trained on your business, and tested on real calls before it ever touches a customer. You approve how it sounds before anyone else hears it.

  • You call it yourself and try to break it. We fix what you don’t like.
  • Forwarding set up so it only picks up when you don’t
  • Every call transcribed, every booking texted to you
Week 2–4

You see the leak close

For most contractors this is the first time they’ve seen a real count of inbound calls. The first booked job that came from a call you’d have missed is the whole argument.

Then, if you want it

The rest of the stack

Website, Google Business Profile, local SEO, ads, reviews — added in whatever order makes sense for your trade and your season. Ads can produce calls in week one. Map pack movement usually shows between day 45 and day 90.

The gap

559 contractors. Nobody here selling them this.

There are good agencies in Bismarck. They build brands, shoot video, do social. One of the best of them specializes in hunting and fishing outfitters. None of them is putting AI on a contractor’s phone, and the out-of-state SEO firms running template city pages certainly aren’t.

What I’ll put in writing

Six promises. And two things I’ll never say.

01

Never a long-term contract

Month to month from day one. If it stops earning, you stop paying.

02

One client per trade, per market

Written into the agreement, not just onto the website. I will not take your competitor’s money.

03

Flat fee, never a cut of ad spend

My income doesn’t go up when I spend more of your money. You pay Google directly.

04

You own everything

Website, domain, Google profile, ad account, phone numbers, call recordings, content. If you leave, it goes with you.

05

You get the owner

My cell number. No account manager, no ticket queue, no handoff to somebody you’ve never met.

06

You approve the AI before anyone hears it

You call it, you try to break it, and it doesn’t go live on your real number until you say it sounds right.

I won’t promise you the #1 spot on Google.

Nobody controls that algorithm. Anyone who guarantees a ranking is either lying to you or about to do something that gets your listing suspended.

I won’t promise you a lead count.

Seasonality in North Dakota alone would make me a liar by February. What I promise is the work, on time, measured honestly, and you see every number I see.

Trades

Built for the work that happens outside.

Every trade has its own season, its own emergency, and its own reason a homeowner picks one company over another. Your AI is trained on yours — it knows what a hail claim is, and it knows a no-heat call in January is not a “we’ll get back to you Monday” situation.

Straight answers

The questions contractors ask

Will it sound like a robot?

Listen to it and decide — that’s the whole point of letting you test it before it goes live. The honest answer is that most callers don’t realize, and the ones who do usually don’t mind, because it answered on the first ring and got them booked. It introduces itself by name and it never claims to be a person.

What happens when it doesn’t know something?

It takes a name and number and tells them you’ll call back — then texts you immediately. It is set up to never invent a price, never guess at a technical answer, and never promise something you can’t do. A polite handoff beats a confident wrong answer.

Does this replace the person who answers my phone?

Not unless you want it to. The normal setup is that it only picks up when nobody else does — after four rings, after hours, or when the line is busy. Your office person keeps every call they were already getting, and stops losing the rest.

Do I have to buy everything?

No. That’s the point of the a la carte setup. Plenty of contractors start with the receptionist and missed-call text back and never add anything else. Some have a decent site already and just need the phone handled. You pay for what you use.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what you pick and how much call volume you do, so I quote it after the audit rather than publishing a number that’s wrong for most people. What I’ll tell you on the call: the setup cost, the monthly, what’s included, and what happens if you have a huge month. No percentage of your ad spend, ever.

I already can’t keep up with the work I have. Why would I want this?

Then don’t buy more leads — that would just make you miserable. What this does for a maxed-out contractor is different: it qualifies before you spend time, so you stop driving to estimates that were never going to close, and it lets you cherry-pick the jobs worth doing. Same volume, better mix. That’s a real conversation and I’d rather have it than sell you the wrong thing.

What about winter?

If you’re a roofer, your phone is quiet from November to March and you shouldn’t be paying peak-season prices for call handling. We scale it down. If you do snow removal, winter is your season and the whole thing inverts. I live here — I’m not going to pretend your year looks like a national average.

Who actually does the work?

Me. Will Pollert, in Bismarck. I build it, I answer the phone, and my cell number is on your agreement. That’s also why I only take one client per trade — I’d rather have ten clients I can name than a hundred I can’t.
